I finally rebuilt my Audi's power steering pump! And for the first time ever with the Audi, it went a lot easier than expected. There was of course one snag: a stripped banjo bolt. And not just any old banjo bolt, but the one I just paid $45 for earlier this year. The new one is already ordered though and should be here later this week. I'm anxious to see what a difference the new seals will make.

I usually never rebuild stuff like this, just replace. I really should try though. What was required to rebuild? Seals/gaskets? Bushings? anything else?

Just seals and o-rings. There were no gaskets. There was a bushing, but that seal would have required a hydraulic press to install and I don't have that, nor the time to do it. It also happens to be the seal that fails the least, so I wasn't too worried about it.
Replacement wasn't really an option for me. These pumps go for hundreds of dollars used and almost a thousand from Audi. I lucked out and got this one from a guy in Utah for $60 (the one that came on my Audi when I bought it was actually incorrect, weirdly), but it needed rebuilt, so he refunded me $30 so I could buy the seal kit, and then I did it myself. Hopefully it works out.
